LICENSED TUG ENGINEER - SEABULK TOWING - MOBILE, AL
Various Duties:
The Engineer must operate diesel engines, air compressors, hydraulic and electrical systems, water and sewer systems, heating and cooling systems. Must be proficient in heaving ½ to 1 inch lines weighing 4 pounds or less up to 60 feet, lift heavy items weighing up to 100 pounds, maintain repetitive motions when using a chain fall or operating valve knobs and wheels, and endure temperatures up to 120 degrees. Tying off soft lines and cables used for harbor assist work (docking / undocking ships and barges), pushing alongside barges, and responding to ship and oil spills emergencies that may require an ability to scale a 4 foot vertical height, ascend and descend 40 foot vertical ladders. Conducts scheduled maintenance and housekeeping duties doing machine shop work, piping repairs, filling and emptying fuel / lube oils, use air and electrically powered tools. Ensure work assignments are safely conducted according to our AWO Responsible Carrier Program certified safety management system found in the Company Operations and Safety Manuals and all federal and state environmental regulations. He / she will be responsible for some reading and record keeping in English. Must be fluent in English to verbally discuss problems with Port Engineers. Offshore/coastal towing experience recommended.

The Engineer must possess the ability to make sound decisions, be dependable, conscientious, show initiative and pay attention to details. He must show a willingness to adhere to rules and regulations and have the ability to work/live closely with others. He must show stability under pressure and have the ability to withstand the stresses associated with the job's potential hazardous situations and unpredictable weather.
Work Schedule: On-call 24 hours per day for seven days, the seven days off.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
CURRENT USCG LICENSE - DESIGNATED DUTY ENGINEER 4000 HORSEPOWER OR BETTER; STCW CERTIFICATION (FIRE FIGHTING, CPR, FIRST AID) AND CURRENT USCG MERCHANT MARINER'S DOCUMENT; ABLE BODIED SEAMAN PREFERRED. TWIC (Transportation Worker's Identification Credential).
